• 6 month old Lenovo Twist laptop, $1400.00 variety, bosses wife.
• Hard drive crashed, received replacement and Lenovo installation disks.
• Followed directions, replaced hard drive and reinstalled OS
• Now get Activate Windows screen but have no key.
• I have been messing with Lenovo for a week trying to get the key. They transferred  me to Microsoft twice and they say go away it's Lenovo responsibility.
• While Lenovo and Microsoft are pointing administrative fingers at one another I'm dead in the water. I'm an old CIO and try to instill in the geeks that work under me a git-r-done style, If you need to get a system up and violate protocol to do so just do it - and blame it on me. I don't see that style here.

Youd better contact Lenovo to re-active your Windows.

Or you can use slui.exe 4 to active it by phone
1.  Press Windows key + X then click Run, then type:   slui.exe  4
2.  Next press the 'ENTER' key
3.  Select your 'Country' from the list.
4.  Choose the 'Phone Activation' option.
5.  Stay on the phone (do not select/press any options) and wait for a person to help you with activation.
6.  Explain your problem clearly to the support person.

If you already have the key, you can type:
slmgr.vbs -ipk YOUR PRODUCT KEY
