Window 7 browser settings
Dear all
I have a Windows 7 PC which was setup with a default gateway which breaks out on to the internet and the IE fro this PC was setup with a proxy server (non windows) the automatically detect option was also selected in the proxy setting. When the user was
connecting to any web pages the browser was taking a long time to display the web page, when I disabled the proxy the browser displays web pages without any delay, I am trying to understand which route has presidents in this type of scenario

Hi,
When client PC use proxy server to access internet, it will need these steps to connect and receive feedback from proxy server:
1 User starts browser, connects to proxy server to get the Proxy Automatic Configuration (PAC) file.
2 Proxy server returns "proxy", which configures browser to do proxying.
3 User requests URL, URL compared against function retrieved from "proxy", connection route is determined.
4 Route for URL returned from function is "DIRECT"(no proxy required). Browser retrieves URL directly.
5 Route for URL returned from function is "PROXY xxxxx" (proxy required). Browser contacts proxy server and requests page.
6 Proxy contacts server and requests page.
7 Server sees request from proxy address and returns URL to proxy.
8 Proxy returns URL to User.
So it will take a few seconds to access internet by proxy server.
If it takes too long time to open a website, the issue may occurs with proxy server. Restart proxy server to see if the same issue occurs.
