WindowsXp loose connectivity to Windows 7 share after all W7 PC's are connected
Hi! I have a network with windowsXp (2 PC's), Windows 2000(1 PC) and Windows 7 (7 PC's). I have a Share Hard Drive in one of the Windows 7 Computer. After a few hours of everybody accessing the share drive with Windows 7, the computers running windows Xp and 2000 loose the connection. I can not connect anymore to this share hard drive on those computers. I do not have problems with connectivity. When the network/computers begin to work in the morning the computer running windows Xp and 2000 can connect to the share hard drive with no problems. If I restart the PC with the Hard drive share I can access again the hard drive from the computer running windows Xp and 2000. Thanks any help!! P.D. Why do I have this and not a Network Drive? Because I need speed from this computer which I use to download what I receive everyday and it's faster using an External USB Hard drive and transfer the info to it than a Network Drive. A File server would do "almost" the same than a Network Drive, everything will go through the Network card and sometimes it does a bottleneck. abasilis

Hi, Please let me know if any error appears when the issue occurs? I suggest you update the network card driver from manufacture's site, check the router settings and update its firmware. Also try to ping the Windows 7 sharing, disable security software and perform Clean Boot to narrow down the issue.
