Windows (7) Explorer Crashing Repeatedly (Able to Reproduce)
I am on a Dell Latitude E6510, Intel i5 CPU M250 @ 2.40GHz with 4 GB of RAM. This is not the fastest notebook in the world, but it's pretty "beefy," and hasn't given me a single problem until first thing this morning upon booting up. Up until this morning, I have not experienced any quirks or other symptoms that would have indicated anything was wrong, even last night. First thing this morning, I was not able to click the network icon in the system tray to connect to the local network her, despite it appearing to be available, and the system being ready in every other sense. This is something I do nearly every morning, without any issues. This seemed to lock up the computer. The computer isn't really locked up though. The CPU activity spikes for up to 5 minutes, and finally I am notified that Windows Explorer has crashed and must be restarted. After some troubleshooting, it would appear that this also happens at key moments of using the mouse to interact with Windows. Though, I have switched mouses a few times, so this isn't specific to the mouse, but rather the actions it is initiating in Windows. The exact actions are unclear though and seem to be random. However, I can reproduce this every time (even in Safe Mode), just by trying to view available wireless networks, or manage the network properties in the control panel. I simply cannot do this at all, because Windows Explorer will be forced to restart, essentially returning me to my desktop. No software has been installed on this notebook in about a month. Can someone PLEASE help? I am able to see the following error repeatedly in the Event Viewer: Faulting application name: Explorer.EXE, version: 6.1.7600.16450, time stamp: 0x4aebab8d Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5be02b Exception code: 0xc0000006 Fault offset: 0x0000000000021e00 Faulting process id: 0xccc Faulting application start time: 0x01cb3fc33766b13c Faulting application path: C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Report Id: 27bf01cc-abb7-11df-9cc8-0026b9d7b338

C Can you check your Windows Update history and see if there was an update for a network adapter card installed, just to rule that out. Start>>Control Panel>Windows Update>View Update History. John Wiley

Hi, please download this reg file from my SkyDrive: http://cid-128fc518635be2dc.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/MS%20Foren/Registry/WER%5E_Explorer.reg and make a double click on the file to import it. When the Windows Explorer crashes, Windows Error Reporting Service [1] creates a dmp file under C:\Localdumps. Please upload the file to your public Skydrive [2] folder and post the link here. I take at the dump, maybe I can see the cause.
