Windows 7, XP, Vista Networking
I recently moved to a new computer running Win 7 Pro. This machine is also serving as a file server to about 8 user machines (some XP, some Vista). I set up a private work network and created three shared folders. I set these folders to be shared by everyone for Read/Write. All machines could see my computer, but none could access. I opened up every possible share category with no avail. Finally, I turned off the McAfee Firewall and all machines could access mine. This was only temporary however because now only Vista machines can access my computer. I can see and access every other machine on the network. Vista and 7 machines can see and access me. XP machines still can't access me and the personal firewall is still disabled. Some XP machines will throw an error stating that there is not enough storage on the server. The "server" has a terabyte of storage. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, Can you access the Windows XP machines from Windows 7 machine? Here are some suggestions you can try on Windows XP machine: 1. Temporarily disable firewall. 2. Install the Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder package from the link below: Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder package 3. Assure the following services are started: Computer Browser, Server, Workstation 4. Perform a Clean Boot in Windows XP. If there is any error message, please capture the window and upload it for research. In addition, you can also contact our Windows XP support engineer for detail suggestions. Thanks, Novak
