Windows 7/System Tool
I was hit with the system tool virus. and was able to destroy it. but it managed to do somethings that im looking to undo. i cant reinstall or restore to another time. when i try to start the windows update service. it gives the following error. windows could not start the windows update service on local computer. error 0x80070057: The parameter is incorrect also BITS wont start and gives the following error. windows could not start the background intelligent transfer service on local computer. for more information, review the system event log. if this is a non-microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and the refer to service -specific error code -2147024809 i also think that the other services are not set right or not starting. as before the system tool hit. i had close to 90 processes running at once now its close to 60 0r 70. i also dont have the wscsvc in services tab on task manager. its like it was deleted. so i am unable to turn on Windows Security Center. as action center says its turned off. but wont let me turn it on. anyone have any idea on how to fix em. also is there a program i could use to show you guys what services are running and what are not. and how to reset them all. iv also tryed the sfc /scannow thing but it shows that there is nothing wrong.

Hi, Do you have a backup? A system restore could help you resolve this issue. You can also try a system file check, follow these steps: 1. Insert the Windows 7 installation DVD into the DVD-ROM; click Exist if the auto-menu pops up. 2. Click Start, input cmd, then right-click run as administrator. 3. At the command prompt, type the command: sfc /scannow For the virus issue, I would like to suggest you call Microsoft PC Safety telephone number, 1-866-727-2338 (1-866-PCSAFETY). This service offers no-charge assistance for virus-related issues or questions. Also, you can check Microsoft Security and Privacy Web site at: http://www.microsoft.com/security/ Regards, MiyaThis posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. | Please remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Contact your OEM for the disk since the Windows 7 is preinstalled. You can also call the number I replied for the virus issue. lets try something. can you post the Windows 7 reg line to the wscsvc - security center. i found one for win xp. and it added. now i see it for services. but is unable to start. i know i know. never mess with the reg. but at this point. il try anything. cant get any worse. so lets try one for win 7. could you also post one for BITS and Windows update. from the reg. lets see if cleaning it with a fresh line will work. if after that dont work. il uninstall Avast and restart a few times. and check to see what that does. is there a program that might clean and reslove any of this tho? like a repair program that knows what its doing or what not?

come to find out. i was just playing around. and trying to get a service to start. but this one says it cant find a file. the service name is. ASP.NET State Service , i went looking in services to see if it knows where the file should be. it told me. so i went to the folder where it should be. and its not there. but the file should be in this folder. C:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_state.exe . as i said. its not. but i dont know what .net to install to correct this one problem. could windows update not be starting due to this?

I'm not sure where's the source for your problem. But the issue with the missing .net 2.0 file is easy to resolve. Download the whole package from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en, and your "aspnet_state.exe" will be included."192 GB ought to be enough for anybody." Thanx, it says that its already installed but i see no install for it in Add/Remove. but for 1.1 and 4Framework profile. so i dont want to uninstall something. could you guys upload a reg file for both BITS and Windows update. so i can see if that might fix it. because.... im planning to just give up and get a USB Hard drive to pull what i want saved off and reformat. i think Toshiba has a program that will restore the whole system back to the point when i first got it. i know my one pc had that. so im pretty sure that this Toshiba has. seems like i ran across it somewhere at boot up. that will clear all virus messed up files out and reslove everthing that is or might be wrong with my system. sad tho that MS dont have a way to reset windows with out having to clear all files. somewhat of a OS reset. but oo well.
