Windows 7 (x64) Print Spooler Service Keeps Stopping
System: Dell Precision T5500 Windows 7 Enterprise (x64) All printers Upon login, we have a printer mapping script run for 2 printers. It seems that once this is run or once someone tries to print the spooler service dies. Any ideas?

One of the deployed printers needs Windows 7 compatible driver. You may try to find the root cause by deploy the printer one by one. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi All, I would suggest installing the recent printing rollup update for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2, link to my blog about it below: http://aidinit.com/2012/03/update-rollup-for-the-core-printing-components-in-windows-7-windows-server-2008-r2-and-windows-small-business-server-2011-sbs2011/ Most recent HP and Xerox printers are supported by the Universal Print Driver for Windows, this is usually updated every few months and will support all your printers features. The big advantage in a network environment is that you can install the same universal print driver and use it for all your different printers, this reduces the risk of the print spooler falling over because of conflicting drivers from multiple vendors. The HP UPD runs in Printer Driver Isolation Mode so a problem should not cripple the whole print spooler, it will only effect that printer. PCL and PS drivers are often available for a printer, one may be better for printing Word and Excel documents and the other better for printing PDF or Images. Please review my blog post on this matter http://aidinit.com/2011/10/which-printer-driver-postscript-ps-or-pcl-how-about-both/ Hope this helps. Stuart
