Windows 7 - Programs Won't Start
Hi - I'm running Windows 7 Home on a pretty new VAIO laptop (1 month old), just ran a disk scan & defrag on my machine (as recommended by the manuf. prompt) and since I restarted, the program's shortcuts don't work in the quickstart menu, and I can't
start the pograms from the start menu.
However, when I go to Windows Explorers (opens by the Windows + E shortcut only) and open a file which was associated with that program, the program does open, so they're still there and working.
I also tried chaging the target on the shortcut menu but they are pointing to the right target.

I recommand to you to restore your system states with the use of a restoration point that was made before the appearance of the problem.
This link will help you to do it:

Look to section "System Restore from a running Windows 7, Vista or 2008"

Hi
Thanks for the response. I have located the rstrui file, however can not open it. Im getting a message which reads
"C\Windows\system32\rstrui.exe
No such interface supported"
When I locate it in Windows explorer, and double click to execute it, it does nothing.
When I right click on it, it does not give me the option to open it?
Thanks

I checked it now on my computer and it is functional.
We will proceed with another method to solve your problem.
