Windows 7 - Solution for Explorer.exe crashing when attempting to login to a network domain
Just wanted to give anyone struggling with this issue a heads up. I recently upgraded a Dell Studio XPS 16 laptop to Windows7 Home Premium and was having non-stop problems logging into various network servers that utilized domains. Upon attempting connection, the Login dialog would appear and I would enter my domain and username, followed by password. On clicking OK, Explorer.exe would immediately stop responding, crash and restart.Having poked around, the Event viewer had made a note of the crash and specifically called out FACredProv2.dll in C:\Windows\system32\FACredProv2.dll.A little searching later I determined that the problem was being caused by a pre-installed program called Fast Access (a sub-component of Dell's face recognition security software) which wasn't uninstalled when I removed the Web Cam software as prompted by the Windows Upgrade Advisor.Removing it and rebooting fixed the problem. It would be highly beneficial if this crash was added to the Crash database so it could tell users to uninstall Fast Access. An example log entry is:Faulting application name: Explorer.EXE, version: 6.1.7600.16404, time stamp: 0x4a765771Faulting module name: FACredProv2.dll, version: 2.2.13.1, time stamp: 0x48c1a108Exception code: 0xc0000005Fault offset: 0x0000000000047570Faulting process id: 0x12e8Faulting application start time: 0x01ca5d940c4e6b28Faulting application path: C:\Windows\Explorer.EXEFaulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\FACredProv2.dllReport Id: 7d09ae55-c997-11de-809c-002219f0176b

Hi all, I just had this same issue but I didn't want to go as far as uninstalling FastAccess altogether. I found that if you open the FastAccess config you can disable it for specific applications, as follows: 1. Open FastAccess Config 2. Click Advanced 3. Under Auto-Disable, click Manage Programs 4. In the text box at the bottom of the window, type "mstsc.exe" (the executable for Remote Desktop) and click Add 5. Click OK twice to close. After I'd done this RDesk behaved as normal again, and I still have FA for my logins.
