Windows 7 - Upgraded to IE9, uninstalled IE9, cannot get IE8 to work again and cannot reinstall or reactivate IE8
Hi, Bit stuck here as cannot resolve my issue. Running 64bit Win 7, has ie8 and all was working fine... using AGR Free Virus Protection. Upgraded to ie 9, no sign of it on PC, but could also no longer see ie8. So uninstalled ie9 and still cannot see ie8. Tried to download ie8 but cannot as it is already part of windows 7. Tried the following fix someone suggested Go to Control Panel\Programs and Features\Turn Windows features on or off. Uncheck Internet Explorer 8, click OK and reboot. You will be not have Internet Explorer installed then. Go to Windows features again and check Internet Explorer 8, reboot. Now you will have Internet Explorer installed again.. When I go into the windows features form IE8 is not even listed, so cannot untick, reboot... etc. So all in all a bit stuck, having to use Chrome just now. Any ideas please? Thanks Jonathan

have you installed the Sp1 and run the DISM command to remove the RTM backup files?"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

Have you used the DiskClean manager of Windows to remive the backup files? What happens when you try to reactivate IE8? Do you get an error message?"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/
