Windows 7 64-bit Freezes After Log In
Hi, I've been using windows 7 64-bit for a while without a problem. However, my computer freezes after I log in. When I choose the user at the log in screen, I hear the log in sound, but my Desktop is faded. I've waited like 20 minutes, but nothing happens. I tried to log into safe mode and system restore, but it doesn't work. Only work around is to log into safe mode and create a new admin account. After creating a new account, I can log into my new account, but when I reboot, the new account gets locked out again like old account. The desktop screen freezes after the log in screen. Every time when I reboot, I have to go into safe mode, create a new account, log into the new account, and delete the old account. I think this happened after a recent windows update, but even after the system restore, it doesn't work. I googled this problem, and there quite a few posts similar to mine. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproperf/thread/88f14814-efe3-4a63-8482-aa08bb1f6387 http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprogeneral/thread/4b2a1605-97ae-4519-967c-39888ccf07d2 http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/27090ab5-f8d8-4576-bbf7-f51158e32bc9 http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprogeneral/thread/16054256-5ff6-49d9-8154-2393f26b3411 http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproperf/thread/24eac533-b7c8-4f69-ae8d-5ef8e1ce4adb http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproperf/thread/5c8a2b19-1023-44b9-b7b3-247ce94559dd http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistarepair/thread/fce1cef2-abaf-4a4a-931a-9ce4d9fb0650 http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/1403-63-windows-hangs-login-stays-screen http://windows7forums.com/windows-7-support/36910-windows-7-freezes-right-after-login.html http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/29081-7600-x64-freeze-login.html

Some of the common causes of system freeze in Windows 7 are as follows: Incompatible hardware or applications Low memory or disk space Bad sectors on hard disk Corrupt or damaged Windows registry Incompatible hardware or applications If hardware devices such as keyboard and mouse are not supported by the operating system, then Windows freezes become a common occurrence. If you run heavy applications that occupy a lot of memory space, the chances of conflicts between the operating system and such applications increases, leading to slowing down of the system. Consequently, your system starts to freeze on a regular basis. To fix this issue, all you need to do is to check out the compatibility of the software applications and drivers with the operating system before installing them on your PC. Low memory or disk space Sometimes your system might lack sufficient hard disk space which then results in frequent system freezes. In most of such cases, cookies, temp files and folders occupy a lot of the memory space on your system. This will not just remove unwanted information from your hard disk, but will also allow you to compress your Recycle Bin and old files.
