Windows 7 64 bit - Wireless problem with HP 8000 Elite Pro
Hi guys, I have 2 desktop computers (HP Elite Pro 8000 SFF) with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Recently I installed a wireless NIC in each of them. This wireless NIC was recommended by HP (FH971AA) and installed using the software on the CD. When I try to login to the network using with the wireless connection, it takes about one minute to show the desktop and then when I try to access any mapped network drive, it asks me for the network username and password, as if it didn't login to the network before. Switching the computer to the lan connection it works fine. There are other computers connected to this network that also use wireless connection, but with XP and Vista and none of them has problems. The network server is running Windows Server 2008. Already uninstalled the wireless software that came on the CD and tested only with the wireless NIC driver, downloaded a new driver from HP's website and upgraded the BIOS, but the problem remains in both computers. Can anyone give me a help solving this problem? Many thanks and regards to all.Nuno Barros http://www.nbarros.net

Hi, Here are some suggestions you can try: 1. Temporarily turn off firewall or antivirus program. 2. Set “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\LMCompatibilityLevel” to “1”. LmCompatibilityLevel 3. Disconnect the mapped drive and reconnect it for a test. Thanks, Novak

Hi Novak, Thanks for your reply. Already tried to disable the antivirus and reconnect the mapped drives, but the problem remains. Regarding the LmCompatibilityLevel, I thought it was related with the lan connection (using network cable) and not the wireless connection. When the computer is connected using a lan cable everything is fine, the problem only happens when it is connected using the wireless connection. Thanks, njrbarrosNuno Barros http://www.nbarros.net

Hi, Besides above suggestions, please also setup the Windows 7 local account as a user on the server machine and make it part of the Administrators group to access the full drive. For more information, please refer to the link below: Map a Network Drive from XP to Windows 7 Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft.
