Windows 7 64 bit Realtek 8168D/8111D Gigagit ethernet update disables network connection
I am using Windows 7 RC 64 bit. I have a Gigabyte X58 UD5 motherboard with dual 8111d Gigabit ethernet ports. When I run Windows update there is an optional update Realtek RTL gigabit ethernet controllers. When I download this update and restart the computer I lose network connectivity and the trouble shooter is unabe to identify the problem. I am running the connections in a bridged configuration. I have even disabled one of the connectors and ran a single ethernet port and I still have the same problem. I have to do a system restore to last previous settings to reenable my network connection. Please advise.

What connection are you bridged to? Does it work if you disable the bridge?

I am connected to my DSL modem. No, even if I disable the bridge, when I download the update it diables my network connection.

Then you should just ignore that update for now, until a more stable one is released.
