Windows 7 64bit Build 7100 killing Temperature Sensor of Intel Core i7 965 ?
Hello, First of all i will start by my hardware specs:Asus P6T6WS RevolutionIntel Core i7 965 EEAdaptec 3405 SAS Pcie SAS controller6 x 2GB OCZ Flex Ex2 x Seagate 15k SAS 74gb hdd2 x Fujitsu 15k SAS 140GB hdd2 x Seagate 7200rmp SATA 1.5TB hdd1 x LG Blu Ray / HD DVD RW Sata DriveThermaltake Toughpower 1500W (220V)Thermaltake Kandalf LCS (Liquid cooled case, used to cool both the CPU and Memory)Dell 30" 3007 WFP monitorThe system is brand new and installed Windows 7 on itfrom scratch, no upgrade, fresh install. It has all the latest updates, drivers, bios. When i first started using the pc for the first couple of days it was working perfectly normal and amazingly fast.It still is now, except a couple of things have appeared since yesterday.Yesterday i noticed that the CPU temperature kind of got stuck on 45 Degree celcius whatever i did... it got stuck on this temp after i started an application that stresses the cpu.So i thought i'd reboot the machine and check the bios and see the temperature from there and so it was still stuck @ 45. So i thought i'd shutdown the pc instead of restarting and then now the temp was "0" all the time... tried rebooting the system a couple of times and then suddnely on one of the reboots on the windows start up where it shows the animated logo, it froze... shut it down again and turned back on, entered the bios check the temp and it was back working... booted up the system logged into windows temp was back to 0. I shut down the system again and removed the power cord and left it this way for about 6 hours (went to sleep) :).booted up the system next day and temp was normal in the bios working fine... booted up the system logged into windows and then bluescreen with an error pointing to rdyboost.sys. restarted windows logged in again working fine... but temp froze again... As long as i don't go into windows the temperature sensor works fine from the bios... once in windows seems it's freezing something on my board/cpu. only way to fix it...shutdown, unplug power, wait... reboot... Is this an incompatibility issue ? Could it be this rdyboost.sys conflicting with something ?In the event viewer under the system log i got this error when i received the bluescreen:Log Name: SystemSource: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-PowerDate: 5/26/2009 12:17:51 AMEvent ID: 41Task Category: (63)Level: CriticalKeywords: (2)User: SYSTEMComputer: xxxxDescription:The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.Event Xml:<Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power" Guid="{331C3B3A-2005-44C2-AC5E-77220C37D6B4}" /> <EventID>41</EventID> <Version>2</Version> <Level>1</Level> <Task>63</Task> <Opcode>0</Opcode> <Keywords>0x8000000000000002</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2009-05-25T21:17:51.952851700Z" /> <EventRecordID>4854</EventRecordID> <Correlation /> <Execution ProcessID="4" ThreadID="8" /> <Channel>System</Channel> <Computer>Rony</Computer> <Security UserID="S-1-5-18" /> </System> <EventData> <Data Name="BugcheckCode">0</Data> <Data Name="BugcheckParameter1">0x0</Data> <Data Name="BugcheckParameter2">0x0</Data> <Data Name="BugcheckParameter3">0x0</Data> <Data Name="BugcheckParameter4">0x0</Data> <Data Name="SleepInProgress">false</Data> <Data Name="PowerButtonTimestamp">0</Data> </EventData></Event>I posted my error on another forum, and a user suggested that i use an application called "Realtemp" http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1325/Real_Temp_3.00.htmlAs it checks the temperature of the cpu directly from the CPU and not throught the Motherboard and it seems to work fine... So from what i'm seeing is that i have an incompatibility between Windows 7 and my ASUS board ? (Ps i did try windows vista 64, and it was working fine...)Regards,Rony

HWMonitor is a hardware monitoring program that reads PC systems main health sensors : voltages, temperatures, fans speed and works wellwith ASUS motherboards and Windows 7 RC1. Give it a try: http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.phpCarey Frisch
