Windows 7 64bit Port Forwarding Appears Not To Work
Hi, Using a Microsoft Lifecam to stream video through laptop to the internet. I use a D-Link router which has port forwarding setup, I've ammended the firewall rules to allow the ports through and nothing! I then disabled the firewall completely and put the laptop onto the D-Link DMZ directly and disabled the router firewall. In essence opening the whole thing up to access... and guess what... nothing! I tried this on my 32Bit version of Windows 7 and it works fine. I tried this on an XP machine and it works fine. I tried this on Mac OS and it works fine. Therefore Mickeysoft, it would appear that for some reason Windows 7 64Bit port forwarding does not appear to work! Any idea on when a fix is likely to happen or am I best binning all my PC's and moving over to Mac OSX!?!??!?! Thanks

"Port forwarding" does not occur at the OS level. Its handled by your Internet Router/NAT device. If you have disabled the firewall on the client, the most likely problem is that the OS is not configured to listen on the port that you are expecting to be open. You can use the NETSTAT command to view a list of open ports. To troubleshoot this issue, check whether you are able to connect to the expected port within your LAN.
