Windows 7 Activation Security Update KBZ1033
Greetings,
Just recently a friend gave me a free copy of Windows Ultimate 32-bit because i couldn't afford to buy it yet. Basically her roommate left her his computer and a copy of Windows 7 (she's still looking for the original 2 discs). He made a copy
for himself of his OS's and she gave me the 32-bit copy. She told me its Pre-Activated and is currently not in use. I installed the OS with no problems. Ever since i installed the KBZ1033 update it has ruined my Windows Experience. I
unfortunately do not have the CD-Key for this version, but being Pre-Activated i didn't think it would have a problem.
I have the product code or what not for this OS. The truth is this version of Windows 7 is not in use and yes she is still looking for the originals (i think). Anyways if you guys could help out that would be great.
By the way, i've heard that your security update is not working right and is ruining people who actually have their CD Keys, you guys need to remove this update or fix it.
Thanks for you help

You've been scammed on this, Windows doesn't come pre-activated (except
for special OEM installations). What you probably received was a cracked
image/version, which was handled correctly by the update to WAT,

As Mike says the ONLY pre-activated versions of Windows come pre-installed with new PCs, and cannot be used in any other PC.
As for KB971033, the ONLY time it causes problems is when you have a non-genuine installation of Windows. Not too surprising really, as that is what it is there to check for, and cure. What it does is cause the system to run a self-test every few weeks,
after checking with MS for the latest definitions of hackers cracks. If it finds anything amiss, it puts up a warning on-screen about possibly being a non-genuine installation. That is ALL it does it does not send any personally identifiable information
back to MS, and it doesnt look at anything except certain critical files.
Someone has been feeding you urban myths, and counterfeit copies of Windows.
