Windows 7 Drops WEP Encryption when it hibernates
I recently purchased a new desktop computer than runs Windows 7. After successfully installing a Netgear Wireless card I had a connection running fine - the connection is encrypted using WEP: Connection: Connect automatically when this network is in range (selected) Security type: shared Encryption type: WEP However, when the computer hibernates, it stops recognizing that the connection is secured, which doesn't allow it to reconnect without manually going into the network properties and resetting the security type from no authentication (open) to shared. If anyone can provide help on fixing this, I would appreciate it.

WEP really isn't safe. Can you try with WPA2-AES or at least WPA and see if the issue is resolved? You will have to change the security on your router first. On Sat, 30 Oct 2010 22:07:23 +0000, A. Hi, When you connect the network make sure its set to remember the password. Also, another way is to remove the current saved profiles for that router and enter the WEP key once more. This way could work. If it does not work, 1. Download the latest driver from website and install it. 2. Temporary disable firewall and antivirus.
