Windows 7 Ent x64 now reads as Windows 7 Test Mode
Hi folks Firstly the Windows 7 essential details HP Laptop Windows 7 Ent on a corp domain X64 Edition Bitlocker enabled UAC set to highest per domain GPO Here is the deal. Machine was acting up as I was installing a set of Windows updates. It powered down and when I rebooted, I was presented with the bitlocker screen due to a change in BCD asking for the unlock key which i supplied. Windows booted up, I attempted to log in using the fingerprint scanner which I couldnt, so logged in using my domain account which has local admin privelages. Get a black desktop with no icons, no taskbar and the watermark in the lower right hand side of test mode windows 7 build 7600 I can get taskman by doing the ctrl?shift+esc combo and can get a command prompt but not as admin. I tried to check manage-bde.exe -status to see if bitlocker was decrypting or not, but because not running as admin I cannot get access. I dont have access to the local admin account as I dont have the local admin password (its an imaged pc via corp) The last piece of software I installed, was the X64 edition of OPen Files View http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/opened_files_view.html, tho I hadnt restarted the machine before the WU. I am hoping you guys can point me in the correct directionBlog: http://www.certsandprogs.com 70-536 Objectives List with MSDN Links 70-505 Objectives List with MSDN Links 70-562 Objectives List with MSDN Links 70-433 Objectives List with MSDN Links

Ok to follow my question I managed to boot into Safe Mode and log in using my domain account. I decrypted the disk to get rid of the need of inputting the decrypt key every time. I created a local admin user just in case I needed it. I used BCDEdit to turn off testsigning (bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING OFF) so that I would remove the Test Mode from my system. Once the disk was decrypted, I restarted the machine and checked my login as normal. Still had an issue. I could however log in as my local admin user. I used that to copy all my essential data from my profile and install the updates that got cancelled and also clear out the temp directory. I then restarted the machine and attempted to log in as my domain user and it worked. I am not too sure if this will help anyone, but it seemed to have fixed mine :)Blog: http://www.certsandprogs.com 70-536 Objectives List with MSDN Links 70-505 Objectives List with MSDN Links 70-562 Objectives List with MSDN Links 70-433 Objectives List with MSDN Links
