Are you using a 32 Bit or 64 Bit version?I have had this issue with 64 Bit version of XP and Vista on several brands of NAS.

Both Versions.

Did the devices work with Vista? Most NAS devices use Samba for file sharing. Older versions of Samba are not compatible with Windows 7 (and Vista). You could try the registry fix here. You could also try setting the credentials needed to access the NAS in the Windows 7 Credential Manager. To access the Credential Manager just start typing it in the Start Search box. You want to Add a Windows credential. In the Resource field enter the UNC to the NAS share e.g. \\NAS_Server_Name\Share_NameKerry Brown MS-MVP - Windows Desktop Experience

I have managed to get explorer to browse my NAS devices and others by changing the MTU on Windows and changing the JUMBO FRAME SETTINGS on the NAS(s), but a new issue hascrossed me. Browsing the devices are flaky, one min it's quick then it's slow and quick again...weird! JohnWL

John,I also use a LaCie NAS ethernet BigDisk and it is connected to my linksys wrt160N and I also get crashes every time I try to access it. I can view the files on the drive and explore them most of the time, however as soon as I try to click or transfer between my Windows 7 machine and the NAS, my system crashes and reboots. If you discover a viable fix to this solution I'd appreciate it. Also I get crashes 1in2 times just browsing my home network as well.As an additional note, I cannot get the computer to even recognize my USB Western Digital external harddrive. And sometimes it won't allow me to save files to me thumb drive either. These issue with transfering between my home networked computers and external devices are my only complaints about Windows 7. If anyone has any viable solutions to these issues please let me know.Thnx

Hey Veritas_Rex: After doing a clean install 2x. My NAS devices are full functional under Win7Beta. Speeds are up, like they should be, streaming media, transfering large chunks of data with out a problem. The strange part about it, is that it took 2x clean installs....very strange. Plus further more, I am not crashing explorer. Something was just wrong, and I cant figure it out. But it's all good now. Note: Veritas_Rex did you do an upgrade or a clean install? JohnWL

I also have the D-Link DNS-323 but I have a different issue. I get a BSOD (TDX.SYS) if I try to transfers files to and from it, sometimes just by browsing the folders on it. I have the LLTD feature enable on the NAS which improved performance on Vista. Windows 7 (32-bit)

I had turned off LLTD, it plays no role for me, but besides the matter. If you are getting a BSOD (TDX.SYS) try to disable jumbo frame setting, if not change it. I have mine set to 9000 JohnWL Note: Also what firmware version are you running?

A lot of people are getting the same BSOD with many other configurations. It looks like a wide-spread issues (bug).

I am currently running firmware version 1.06 with FTP server, iTunes server, etc. however after spending like 4-5 hours on the phone with Dlink about a different issue I had reset my NAS and reapplied all settings and everything works now. Alsoforgot to mention but I did do a clean install of Win7beta 2x and then all was fine. JohnWL

Uninstall the antivirus software and then reboot. If this works, then it is related to the Antivirus software.

I did uninstall my antivirus, in my case Avast Home Edition. Now it seems to be working. Further I have received a system message that there is a solution. Here is a link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967891 it's in referenced to legacy transport dirvers, which are using SMB. In my case I use a new network storage from dlink 323. So I am installing the hotfix and I hope it won't crash again :)
