Windows 7 GPP Printers Dissapearing after Sleep
Hi, Since moving to deploying printers with Group Policy Preferences there seems to be a problem with the connection to the printer remaining after a machine goes to sleep. Once a machine has awoken from sleep, the user unlocks the PC, the GPP printers are no longer available (GPUPDATE /FORCE resolves the issue until the next sleep occurs). The remaining printers are only local (XPS / OneNote etc...) The printers are deployed on a user policy with item level targeting on the PC's security group (we are a school, so you only want printers local to the computers area). I would deploy printers to the machine, however you cannot deploy a shared printer on a computer config. My only alternative is to try loopback processing i guess? Has anyone else experienced this issue? Many thanks, Simon Roberts

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums. When the PC is in sleep mode, all the power supply will be cut off except for RAM. According to your situation, the data on the Network adapters might lost due to this. Please go to Device Manager, right click on the Network adapters and Properties. Under the Power management tab, uncheck the box before “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”. This will maintain the power on Network adapter. Let us check if this works.
