Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (x86) - DVD (English) Activation Keys are not working
I downloaded and installed the Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (x86) - DVD (English)OS and used the key provided to me. Everything went fine but 24 hours later my computer advised me "Windows 7 Build 7601, This copy of Windows is not genuine". I tried to use the same key which I received from my TECHNET account and it wouldn't work. I then tried the second set of keys TECHNET provided me and it wouldn't work either. I don't see how this can not be genuine when I downloaded it from the TECHNET website and used the keys they provided me. Can I please let a good set of keys so I can use the OS. Thanks.

Hi, Click Start=>type slui in the search box=> select it from the programs results. What is the result? Did it activate?

Thanks for the suggestion. When I get home tonight I will test it.

WIN | slui.exe 4 | ENTER Find the number to call. Call. If activation fails, stay on the fon to get a real person. WIN is the key with the Microsoft flag on top.

I tried slui but it didn't work. Others in TECHNET advised me to try to do a system restore to the point when I just installed the OS but that didn't work either. Others advised me to try and use the Genuine Advantage Tool but that only told me my OS was Genuine which isn't true since I downloaded it from TECHNET. I even tried sfc / scannow and chkdsk c: /r and that didn't work either. Tomorrow I am going to call MS directly to see what can be done about this.

slui.exe 4 will get you a number to call for activation purposes. If activation fails, stay on the line and you will be able to talk to a person. That "4" is necessary.

I do hope that you are using a TechNet key with your Technet download. Other combinations, do NOT work. That Technet Key is required for a Technet download.

Yes I am. They provided me two sets of keys and neither work. I just called them (MS) and they are not in so I will give them another hour before I call again.

I finally got a hold of a live TECHNET member. They want me to take a screen shot of the activation page that says my key is invalid and also, the page off TECHNET to show which software I downloaded and my keys. Until they get that, they can't do anything for me. They also said they don't have access to any new keys. So now I wait for them to respond to my E-mail which will be between 24-48 hours.

Looking forward to hearing the results.

The Technet .ISO images are Microsoft Retail versions. Any Retail key will work with the Technet downloads as has been posted many, many times! And, a Technet key will work with any Retail version disc! Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. The issue has not been fixed. I have been waiting for TECHNET to get me the fix. I submitted my problem to TECHNET on 12 April and today is 22 April and poof, still waiting. I submitted my ticket and about 48 hours my ticket was elevated. About 48 hours later, it was elevated again and then 24 hours later it was once again elevated (my words not technet). I got tired of waiting for technet to do something so I formatted my hard drive twice and installed the software. I tried to activate it and I had the same problems. I reformated the hard drive once again and repeated my actions. However, this time I used the second key from TECHNET and it worked. It was odd since I tried that key numerous times before and it didn't work. I sent TECHNET an E-mail stating that one of the keys might be bad since the second key worked. That was four days ago and still nothing from TECHNET.

Generally, if your key doesn’t work, you can simply make a phone call to active your PC via phone. Active using the telephone: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950929 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/activate-windows-7-on-this-computer Regards, Leo Huang TechNet Subscriber Support in forum.
