Windows 7 Local security templates
maybe its been a year that you guys know about this, but I just found it and want to share my first findings sdb files (used with Security Configuration and Analysis Console) have been renamed to some other conventions which does not really tell what they are used for. Also Security Templates have been relocated and they are now in %Windir%\inf\ folder. my intention was that I originally wanted to apply the security templates used to be known as secure workstation (securews.inf) to a standalone Windows 7 enterprise version only way I think is join Windows 7 to a Windows Server 2003 domain and use Group Policies for test where can I find a match maker so it can tell me which security template this file, sceregvl.inf refers to among the following? Setup Security.inf DC Security.inf Compatws.inf Secure*.inf Hisec*.inf Rootsec.inf

sceregvl.inf is not a security template. The file is used to extend the settings that can be configured in the Security Options section in Group Policy. This procedure was described in the Security Guide for Windows Vista and other operating systems. I have not seen any reference to a Windows 7 Security Guide yet. The guide should contain the security templates that you refer to. The current security page on the Microsoft Web site refers to Threats and Countermeasures Guide: Security Settings in Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista .Ray
