Windows 7 Machines, No Internet but Yes Local Network Connection
Yesterday began seeing issues with my Win7 machines and internet access. Today all Win7 are without internet access. My XP machines are OK. LAN connection is fine. I have not changed anything (updates) to the network. I have tried most of the items online (driver updates, computer updates, reset the TCP/IP on machine) but still no luck. Any thoughts?

Hi,Can you please check the following: What is the IP address you are getting? Are you able to ping the Default gateway? If you are able ping the DG, then ping 4.2.2.2If you get reply, ping a websiteIf you get reply from the website, try to open the website with the IP address, it may happen that it is browser issue or a dns issue rather than a network issue.Try safe mode with networking and see if you can connect to internet or not? Let me know the result

_P_K, Thank you for the information. Over night I updated the server and that has cleared it up, I think! It has been a while since I updated the servers and cycled the network. Yesterday, I was unable to access including in safe mode! I will post how everything turns out. Thank you! MTW

How many win 7 pc you have? Is it wireless or running through cable? Btw is all your pcs connected through a router next to a modem? I suggest you to go to one of the win 7 pc, under cmd prompt type Ipconfig /all & next post the IP address, subnet mask as well as the default gateway here. If you could post a print screen or attach a image like what i've attach, it be better. I currently have 6 Win7 Machines. Running via cable, remove from cable and no issues. They are connected to two separate sub-switches. Here are the screen shots. I am able to connect to search engins with no issue and search topics however most of the time I cannot connect to the actual topic sites, either indirectly through the engin or directly.

_P_K, I have changed the primary DNS to be 4.2.2.2 With that setting I am able to successfully ping websites. I am also able to navigate the internet as well (still painfully slow thought).

Now the internet is shut down again! I cannot ping IPs or names. I can still ping 4.2.2.2 though!

Reinstalled Win7. Still unable to reach internet other than search engins. I can ping 4.2.2.2 but no luck getting outside!

Hi, Based on your information, I think your Windows 7 PCs obtain IP address from DHCP Server instead of Static IP Address. However, I notice that the Windows 7 PCs connect to switches and based on my knowledge, switches cannot provide DHCP service. So, is there any other network device, such as router or server which you configure to provide DHCP service? Also, do you use proxy? Please check it both in your clients or servers via command: netsh winhttp show proxy and in your network devices. And, have you tried Internet connection troubleshooter when you lose Internet connection? In addition, if you connect Internet via Modem, please test the issue again bypass all your network devices and connect to Modem directly. Hope this helps.
