Windows 7 Network Connection Issues
Hello, I'm running out of ideas here and need some real assistance. My computer keeps disconnecting from the internet. It does it about 5 times per day depending upon use and just connects right back up in about thirty seconds or less. The little computer icon on the bottom right of the task-bar will get a yellow symbol on it when it disconnects and the page that I am on will keep loading and then go to a "Server Not Found Page" even if I go to different page or try to refresh. I just had Comcast come out and install a new modem about two weeks ago thinking that might be the issue and Ive changed the Ethernet cable and still no dice. I unhooked the router thinking that might help as well, but still nothing. So at the moment It's just a direct connect from the modem to the PC. The lights on the modem stay on and one is constantly flashing when all of this is going on so I would assume its something to do with the computer or OS. It's not a huge deal it just gets to be a pain after awhile. Im sort of a noob when it comes to issues like this so be gentle. What do you think? Care to share which exact make and model of modem you're using? Btw are you running any P2P or file sharing stuff?

Which light on the modem is blinking when this happens? What model of network adapter does the PC have? Dell's site only lists it as "intergrated, 10/100 capable" for that model. Look in the Device Manager to find this out - it's probably an nVidia nForce (everything else on the PC is nVidia), but which one?

Hi, You may upgrade the NIC driver to latest version for a test. Click start button on the Taskbar=> point to Computer=> Right-click the Computer icon and hit Mamage=> Under System Tool you will find the Device Manager. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Thank you all for your replies, It says the NIC drivers are up to date. I'm not sure what else to do and I feel its gotten worse. Under Network Adapters, I'm running a Broadcom 440x10/100 Integrated controller, that's what it says. Not sure if that's the right thing or not. Someone help. I'm about ready to just wipe it clean and put XP back on it, but that would make me very sad.
