Windows 7 Network Map
I have a home network using a Belkin N+ Wireless Router Model F5D8235-4v2. My main PC, a desktop, is hardwired to the router and so is a second desktop. The third computer is a laptop connected wireless. The router is hardwired to the modem from my ISP. On the Windows 7 (64-bit) Home Premium network map it shows a line going from the main PC to a device called "Switch" and then a line from the switch to the router. I do not have a physically separate switch in the network. I assume this switch is built into the router. The switch icon changes to a question mark when the PC is turned off. It can be changed back to the switch icon by dsiabling an re-enabling the network adapter. What do I need to do to avoid the question mark appearing after each reboot?

You can't do anything to change this. Don't use the network map at all. It is very buggy and does absolutely not work reliably in a bigger network. And it does not give you really useful utilities, which can't be done in another way. And yes switching a PC on the network from on to off can change the map layout totally in a form totally unrelated to the PC, which was switched on/off. In my understanding this is still in an early development stage. Wolfgang
