Windows 7 Network Services not starting? (Firewall/DHCP)
Had an issue with my windows 7 PC today, possibly due to a bad shutdown. Was blue screening. Anyway, brought it back with last known good and all seemed well until I could not get online. Noticed firewall was not able to start, dhcp client would not start due to access denied. I finally got online by going to my config and manually entering my networks IP and DNS info. So I can now get online, but still getting errors and network services seem to be giving me issues. All I did change was give the network service full permission on the dhcp and tcpip keys but still having errors. So I can use the PC for now but would like to be able to get these services working and fixed. Here are some eventvwr events: EventID:7001 The Network List Service service depends on the Network Location Awareness service which failed to start because of the following error: The service has not been started. EventID:7004 The Network Location Awareness service terminated with service-specific error %%-1073741288. EventID:7023 The DHCP Client service terminated with the following error: Access is denied. EventID:7001 The Windows Firewall service depends on the Base Filtering Engine service which failed to start because of the following error: Access is denied. EventID:7023 The Base Filtering Engine service terminated with the following error: Access is denied. Suggestions?

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum. First of all, you could try System Restore to get back to a previous time point which Windows 7 worked fine. If the issue persists, we could try the following steps to check it: 1. Use command SFC /scannow to repair corrupted system files: How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7 2. Add localservice and networkservice to the administrator group: Open a privileged command prompt, type the following commands: net localgroup administrators localservice /add net localgroup administrators networkservice /add Hope it helps.
