Windows 7 Offline files are missing, even though Sync Centre reports "Sync Completed"
Hi guys, A client of mine runs Windows SBS Standard 2008 SP2 as a DC, pretty standard setup. Until recently, one domain user (XP Pro 32 Bit) used offline files with great success - he worked at home and when he logged in at work his My Documents changes would sync. Then when he logged off, any changes he made when online would sync back to his offline files. Fantastic. Last week I upgraded him to a new laptop running Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit, and I tried to setup the same thing up in Sync Center. According to Sync Center, all was correctly setup and working properly when connected to the office LAN, for example: - I ran the initial sync and it took at least an hour or 2 to copy files between the workstation and the server. Once finished it reported that the sync was successful. - If I select the option to view offline file usage, it shows 27GB of offline files present on the workstation. - If I select to actually view offline files (when connected to the LAN), it shows all the correct and up to date files. Herein lies the spanner: - If I unplug the LAN cable while still logged on, I can still see the offline files. - If I log off, remove the LAN cable and log back on, they are gone. I open Documents and there are no files there... - even if I go into Sync Center and select view offline files - nothing is there anymore. - If I plug the LAN cable back in, there is no indication (as there was in XP) that I have gone back online, and the Documents remain unavailable. Up until now I have had this user setup for My Documents folder redirection on the server, and I thought that might have contributed to this problem...? Also, I know that some network card settings (TCP Checksum Offload or something similar) can cause weird networking problems - could this be at fault here? Any help in this regard would be hugely appreciated, and many thanks in advance!Nybbling on about this and that...:) http://nybblesandbytes.blogspot.com Finding the best spots for you and your tots...:) http://plebswithkids.blogspot.com

Hi, Would you please let me know if there is any event log or sync conflicts (results) exits? First go to update your network adapter driver to the latest version from the manufacture's site. Check the Disk Usage. If it is full, try to delete temporary files. If the issue persists, please refer to the following article to modify the Group Policy to configure Background Sync. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff633429(WS.10).aspx#BKMK_ConfiguringBackgroundSync Best Regards, NikiPlease remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I'm getting a simular problem with server 2008 R2, and windows 7 enterprise clients. Brand new machines, also some old machines. everything up to date, and plenty of gig free. Same issue, snyc says its sucessfull, but when i unplug the cable the files and even desktop shortcuts have a red x saying the location has moved. sometimes snyc center does show errors... * wfcwin32.log (the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process * Event viewer logs * Error Event ID - 33 * Source - Sidebyside
