Windows 7 Offline files sync issues
Hi I have just deleted a user profile to correct an IE issue and in doing so have managed to delete his offline files. Unfortunately the offline files had not synced online thus he has lost alot fo work. Can anyone help me with ideas here? THE CSC cache does not seem to have them anymore and I am unsire if they would be kept and if so where they might be. Thanks

Hi, When you delete a user then you get these options on the screen: a) Delete files b) Keep files c) Cancel If you selected option a) then the files are well and truly gone. On the other hand, if you selected option b) then you will be able to see the profile folder under C:\Users. Hi Sabrina The files I need to see are not his profile files, they are his offline files, which (correct me if i am wrong) are stored in the %sdystemroot%\CSC folder. Now this is a Database, its not a simple NTFS basic files list. So I guess my 2 questions are. Is there a way to view the database file and see what it is in easily? Is there an external program that lets you access the data base and view its contents? Does deleting a user profile be intelligent enough to delete his offline files from the CSC? Thanks Joe

We have done a lot of testing and found that in Windows 7 CSC is not a viable option. We had all our staff using it with Windows XP but we had to shut it down due to a 90% fail rate (taken over 100 laptops). Have a look in C:\Windows\CSC folder. This is where the lost files will be. You will need to take ownership of the files and folders before you will have access as well as full control. Good luck.
