Windows 7 PC cannot write to primary network share (SBS2003)
Hi. I have a Windows 7 user that is unable to save/edit files on her primary network share. Users are set up so 'My Documents' is on the server. All other PCs (including a couple of Windows 7 - the rest are XP) have no problem. When attempting to save, a file is created in the shared folder, but it is empty and corrupt. The user then gets a message 'Unable to Save File'. She is then unable to open the corrupt and empty file that has been created. She is currently saving everything to her desktop and moving it to the share, which works, but is inconvenient as she cannot edit files in the share either. All of her other shares on the same server work OK. Other blogs show this is a very well known problem that is not specific to Win 7, but there does not appear to be a specific fix. Others newsgroup subscribers have suggested it may be anti-virus related (CA crops up regularly). In our case, it seems to stem from when Sophos AV (Enterprise) was downloaded to her PC from the Enterprise Console. However, I have disabled the Sophos Services (but not uninstalled it) and the fault has not changed. Another suggestion was to remove a specific Windows Update (KB978251), but this didn't work either. Does anyone have any ideas on this?
