Windows 7 PC cannot write to primary network share (SBS2003)
Hi. I have a Windows 7 user that is unable to save/edit files on her primary network share. Users are set up so 'My Documents' is on the server. All other PCs (including a couple of Windows 7 - the rest are XP) have no problem. When attempting to save, a file is created in the shared folder, but it is empty and corrupt. The user then gets a message 'Unable to Save File'. She is then unable to open the corrupt and empty file that has been created. She is currently saving everything to her desktop and moving it to the share, which works, but is inconvenient as she cannot edit files in the share either. All of her other shares on the same server work OK. Other blogs show this is a very well known problem that is not specific to Win 7, but there does not appear to be a specific fix. Others newsgroup subscribers have suggested it may be anti-virus related (CA crops up regularly). In our case, it seems to stem from when Sophos AV (Enterprise) was downloaded to her PC from the Enterprise Console. However, I have disabled the Sophos Services (but not uninstalled it) and the fault has not changed. Another suggestion was to remove a specific Windows Update (KB978251), but this didn't work either. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Hi, Have you tried to apply the following Hotfix? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2434932 If not, please try it.Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi Sorry I have not replied before. I had given up on getting a reply at all. No, the hot fix did not work. I have emailed Sophos about this as a) it seems common where AV has just been installed and b) it started immediately after Sophos was installed. I have tested the PC with the AV services stopped but it is still the same. Any more suggestions would be welcomed as the user in question is getting fed up of having to save everything to her desktop and then 'move' it to her 'My Documents'.
