Windows 7 PC not showing in Network list
I have 20 Windows 7 Pro PC's that are on a Domain. One of the PC's doesn't show up on the Network list. I have turned off the Firewall to eliminate that issue, LLTD Protocol is checked and the advanced sharing options for the Domain are: Network Discovery:On, File & Printer Sharing:On. It's in the DNS an shows up in the WIN's. The PC has VMWare installed which shows the VMware network adapters so the Network information display instead of showing the Domain shows multiple networks. Not sure if this could be the cause. I can't find anything else that would cause this issue unless there is a service that is off that needs to be on.

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum. Do you mean that you cannot see this specific Windows 7 from others? Can you see other Windows 7 from the problematic one? As a test, please boot into Safe Mode with networking to see what the result is. And you may try to temporarily disable the VMware network adapters to check the result. Thanks for the reply. All PC's basically see the same Network PC's except the one I am talking about. On that PC you call see the same Network PC's as the others except for its self. It's just not showing that PC. I have went through the Why are computer missing web page and everything is OK. That's why I can't figure out why it isn't showing. Could there be a service what would be causing it? I will try the reboot into safe mode after the developer isn't using the PC.

Hi, What is the result when you boot into Safe Mode with networking? Please try to use the following steps to enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP to see what the result is: 1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Network and Dial-up Connection. 2. Right click Local Area Connection, and then click Properties. 3. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties. 4. Click Advanced. 5. Click the WINS tab, and then click Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP Alex Zhao TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tnmff@microsoft.com.Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Alex, I haven't been able to reboot the PC yet because it is being used by a developer. All of the other settings that you had me check are set correctly. I'll let you kow something shortly. Thanks

Alex, The power supply just went out on this PC so I was able to restart in safe mode-networking but it's still not showing. The only thing I wasn't able to try yet was to disable the VMware adapters. The only strange thing about that is I have another Windows 7 x64 PC with VMware on it and it doesn't have this problem.

Hi, I suggest you restart the Function Discovery Provider Host service to check the result: 1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Yes. 2. At the command prompt, type the following command to stop the fdPHost service, and then press ENTER: net stop fdphost 3. After the fdPHost service is stopped, type the following command to restart the fdPHost service, and then press ENTER: net start fdphost Also, try to restart the Network List Service: 1. Click Start, type services.msc in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. 2. In the list of services, right-click Network List Service, and then click Restart. Alex, This is just to strange. I checked the two services and the fdphost wasn't running so I started the service and also restarted the Network List Service but it's still not showing. Phil

Hi Phil, I would involve some people who is more familiar with these problems to help you deal with this issue. There would be some delay. Thanks for your understanding.
