Windows 7 Pro 64 bit System Hangs at times.
My Windows 7 Pro 64 bit system hangs at times with no error messages. (Only once I got a BSOD during the Windows Performance Index Test where it said "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval." So far for instance, I have not been able to get through the Windows Performance Index Test without it hanging every time. This is with a computer that I recently installed a new Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 motherboard. I have tested the RAM with Windows built in Memory Diagnostic and Burnin Test and it passed. (It hung though after displaying the Passed message in Burnin Test.) I have put in new Dual Channel RAM (two 4 GB modules in the same color slots starting closest to the CPU) and it also exhibits the same problem. I have tested the AMD Phenom X3 720 CPU with Burnin Test and it passed. I wonder if the Adaptec 5808 RAID controller could be causing the problem? If so, how do I find out? What is the best way to troubleshoot this? Would anything in the Event Viewer help? I haven't looked yet. In the past I've looked at it for other problems but it never really seemed to be helpful. Thanks.

Hi, First, please update all the drivers of devices to latest version. You may boot in Clean Boot to determine whether the 3rd party software casue this and test the RAM again. Please access the following link for your reference. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796 Also, you have already encountered the BSOD. To troubleshoot this kind of kernel crash issue, we need to debug the crashed system dump. Unfortunately, debugging is beyond what we can do in the forum. A suggestion would be to contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your request. Please be advised that contacting phone support will be a charged call. To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below: Microsoft - Help and Support http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;PHONENUMBERSPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
