Windows 7 Professional 64-bit will not resume after sleep, hibernate or hybrid sleep
When I try to resume by moving the mouse, pressing a key on the keyboard or pressing the power switch on the case, the fans come on, the hard disk light flashes, then nothing more happens - the video does not come on. At that point, I power down the computer by holding the power button for 4 seconds to turn it off, then press briefly to turn it on. BIOS starts, and I get a screen saying "Resuming Windows", then soon the screen goes blank and nothing more. So I hold the power button four seconds to shut it down, restart, and this time after BIOS I get a choice of trying to resume again or deleting the resume date and just starting windows from scratch. I've checked to be sure I am running the latest drivers. This entry in the event logs looks a little suspicious only because it seems to have something to do with "NV" which I assume to be NVidia: Log Name: Application Source: SideBySide Date: 10/3/2010 1:54:46 AM Event ID: 33 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: i7-930 Description: Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\nTune\MFC80.DLL". Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis. You have everything ok. Just very large amount of ram. Don't use hibernate function. Wait for some time, your system will resume from hibernation, but the process will be long, because your system needs to load 6Gb from HDD. I recommend you to turn hibernation off: Start->cmd (Run as Administrator), type command "powercfg -h -off" to turn hibernation off.

This should take care of it, if it doesn't check with your computer manufacturer for bios update.CESabarre Free Tech Support Bad News: There really is no such thing as Free Tech Support. The issue is somewhere in Gigabyte BIOS or in the SATA3 controller firmware. I applied the Microsoft hotfix for large SATA drives, and that did not fix the problem. I backed my BIOS down one release which also changed the SATA3 controller firmware, and the Sleep/Resume "resumed" working. Sorry for the bandwidth. This one was not (primarily at least) Windows 7.

This problem was due to bad memory. Replacing the system memory DIMMS resolved the problem.

Please note that this command works a specific way on Windows 7 Professional to turn hibernation off. Start->cmd (Run as Administrator), type command powercfg -h off Example: C:\Windows\system32>powercfg -h off Note - For a list of commands you can type POWERCFG /?
