Windows 7 Professional reactivation
I just replaced a faulty motherboard on my computer and upgraded Ram memory and Video board and noticed in my system information properties that i have 2 days to activate my Windows 7 Professional 64 bit which i bought online from MWAVE.com in January 2010 to update from Windows XP and had originally activated since early 2010 recieving updates since thenand had no problems. I tried to activate again after my rebuild per system properties but get error message 0xC004C008 of why it won't activate even when i have entered the product key and followed all the offered options. I can't seem to find th logs i see requested log to copy eventhough i followed the instructions given and downloaded the suggeted tools to run the diagnostic when i look for that specific info i don't see it to copy but it appears in the original results info. It's not surprising Windows Activation thinks you've got a whole new computer. What's NOT different? The case? Power supply? Disk drives? But if you're patient and respectful, you should be able to get Microsoft to allow you to activate Window on the new hardware. This is not significantly different than restoring a backup onto replacement computer hardware after a failure. Here's my suggestion: Work your way through the Windows Activation feature in such a manner that it gives you a phone number, then call Microsoft. When the automated attendant questions you about how many systems you've installed windows on before, answer truthfully. If you fail to convince the automated attendant to send you activation codes, keep working their phone system until you get a real live human on the line to whom you can explain your situation. They're reasonable. If it comes to that, there are actually web sites dedicated to helping you get in touch with a real live human on a telephone, by the way. Do a Google search for how to reach a real live human, for example. -Noel

If you want a quick way to get to the correct phone number, you can open a command prompt and type in: slui.exe 4 Rich Prescott | Infrastructure Architect, Windows Engineer and PowerShell blogger | MCITP, MCTS, MCP Engineering Efficiency @Rich_Prescott Client System Administration tool AD User Creation tool
