Windows 7 Program files security question
Hi all
I am a dot net developer. I created an application and it tries to write(edit) some files inside program files(installation path).But failed to a general user and succeeded for an administrator.Ir is ok for security
reasons. But why any windows software like sql server is able to write db files in that program files folder.
can u pls give some good explanation(or any link ) .

That should the Windows 7 UAC behavior.
User Account Control
(UAC) helps defend your PC against hackers and malicious software. Any time a program wants to make a major change to your computer, UAC lets you know and asks for permission.

Hi sir
Thanks for answer but can you explain when I am updating a database from sql server and normal user account why it allow to let it save those db files inside program files ?
Is that microsoft product behaves different in spite of who is logged in ?

I’m not familiar with this behavior about SQL server. Maybe some permission has been set for normal user.
