Windows 7 Starter on Acer AOD250-1633 can't connect to VPN via PPTP while all other PCs at the same location can.
Hi all, I'm having problem connecting my netbook running Windows 7 to a VPN. I've tried the properties setting, among others, on this netbook: Options: Display progress, Prompt for name and password, (not include Windows logon domain) and not checking any of thePPP settingoptions.Security: PPTP, require encryption, allow only MS-CHAP v2. (there's no MS-CHAP option)Networking: TCP/IP v6, TCP/IP v4, File and printer sharing, client for Microsoft networks. This setting won't work, I got an error 691 after prompted to enter user name and password a few times and even thecorrectusername and password were entered. So, this seems to be a problem of authentication protocol? Also, when I tried pptpclnt.exe I got an error saying WSASocket() failed: 10013 when it tested GRE protocol.Any helpwould beappreciated. Thanks.

Hi Liumuil,
I would like to suggest you delete and create a new VPN connection to check the issue.
If it does not work, I also would like to suggest you try the troubleshooting suggestions mentioned on the following link:

Oh, I forgot to mention that the computers running Windows 7 Starter can't connect to a domain, if your VPN destination is a domain.
