Windows 7 Virtual Hosted Network WEP Encryption?
So, I'm trying to get my Windows 7 laptop, which is connected to a WPA2 wireless network, to act as an access point for my Nintendo DS, which sadly only accepts WEP encryption and lower. I found instructions on how to set up a hostednetwork using the command line (netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=Test key=password) but unfortunately this doesn't solve anything as the hosted network it creates is itself encrypted through WPA2. So my question is, is there a solution for my problem? Can I change the settings of the hostednetwork? Or is there another way to get a WEP or open connection active on my laptop alongside my current connection? Thanks in advance Joe

No, it only works with WPA2 keys. It is a hardware requirement by Microsoft to only support WPA2 keys on a Virtual Access Point adapter. http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/e/6/5e66b27b-988b-4f50-af3a-c2ff1e62180f/mbl-t604_wh08.pptx David Nudelman MVP: Windows Desktop Experience MCP, MCSE, MCTS: Vista, Exchange 2007 MCITP: Windows Server 2008 Web: http://geeks.ms/blogs/dnudelman
