Windows 7 and Windows Home Server
I was able to map drives to my home server on Win 7 but then after rebooting i get the error messege: \\server is not available. You might not have permission to use the network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to see if you have access permissions. The referenced account is currently locked out and may not be logged onto. The account is not logged out it's the admin account. I can log into WHS from Win 7 by Remote Desktop but I cannot acess ANYTHING with a UNC path. It works fine on my Windows XP machine.

Your talking about folders other than the Shared Folders on your desktop that the connector sets up? Personally I have never tried that so I would suggest...1. Make sure your running Power Pack 3 on the WHS. It was released in the last week or so and may fix the issue. Note you will need to install new connector software on your clients after PP3 is installed.2. Post to the WHS forums for help...http://social.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/whssoftware/threads/MS-MVP Windows Desktop Experience, "When all else fails, read the instructions"

As a Windows Server 2003 Administrator, I can ASSURE you that the account is not locked out. It is the ADMINISTRATOR account. I can access it via UNC on every other computer I have. Also, Connector is not on them either. I do not use the Connector as I just access everything via mapped drives. The people on the WHS forum don't really understand this. I can tell you the problem is within Windows 7 since all other machines can access this server with the same credentials.

Please change the NTLM authentication level. Please refer the following website. Network security: LAN Manager authentication level Please change Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated. If your Windows 7 system is Windows 7 Home Premium, you may need to configure it via Registry. 1. Launch regedit from Start Search box.2. Find the following branch. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa 3. Create a DWORD key under Lsa and set: Name: LmCompatibilityLevel Value: 1 4. Restart.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Just had a similar problem. Searched all over and got all sorts of bad / complex answers. Found this one that worked perfectly and was easy. In my case, I could not map drives but could get in via remote desktop. If you can't do that, you can still fix this if you can physically access the server box. This link gives instructions how to use Local Users settings on the server to unlock the locked account. And yes, in my case it was really locked out. Why one PC user's account got locked, I have no idea. My best guess is that the battery died and it tried to connect with a date from the 1990's. Anyway... http://www.infinitedesigns.org/archives/253

I'm trying to follow you, but I'm a little lost, When I goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa i go under Lsa and create a new folder LmCompatibilityLevel at set the level at 1. Is that correct? I'm not sure what the set part of Lsa and set is? Is PP3 a free upgrade, all I see is the trial version for download, Im running WHS 2003. I trtied the first route, but i Don't see the local policies to change under the console tree? I don't know.gary w dipple
