Windows 7 and Windows Journal
We have several Panasonic Toughbooks on Windows 7 and this issue is with all of them. Whenever you have Windows Journal open and you rotate the screen then try writing with the mouse pointer, it will write several inches away from where your pointer is. It seems that it still thinks the screen is rotated the other way. This is a major issue for us in that the software we use utilizes Windows Ink and when we try to select items with the mouse pad after rotating the screen on our Toughbooks, it selects items not even close to the pointer.

The logical thing to do is to contact Panasonic Technical Support for two (2) reasons: 1. They are the ones that customized Windows 7 for the Toughbook, not Microsoft! 2. Panasonic is solely responsible for their hardware sold with Windows 7 on it! Which model Toughbook is this? CF-19, CF-18? I've used these in the past, and sometimes it is merely a calibration issue. Have you tried doing the screen calibration inside of Tablet PC options in the control panel? Also check for updated display and digitizer drivers. This is a mouse pointer issue when using the touch pad, not the stylus, so calibrating is pointless. Here is a link to a video of this happening. I don't see how this can be a Panasonic issue, as it is only occuring in Windows Journal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tabPcPWVb9Q

Ok, Just to prove this is not a Panasonic issue, I have duplicated this exact same problem on our Motion Computing devices as well. This is a problem with Windows 7 on Tablets with Windows Journal.

Our developers have found that it is a bug with Windows Ink rendering.

Hi, If these were OEM purchases from Panasonic, then Panasonic gets to support them. If/when Panasonic can confirm with us that it is a bug in windows, then we would look. In addition, how did your developers make the determination? Any data to share? If I receive the bug data, I will forward this information to the appropriate department through our internal channel. Both the Microsoft Product Team and Development Team take into consideration all suggestions and feedback for future releases. Again, thanks for choosing Windows 7. According to them the issue is with Tablet PC SDK (version 1.7) and mouse drawing when you rotate the screen. They are just making a work-a-round by not allowing ink writing with the mousepad in our software.
