Hi S_251_251,Which version of Windows 7 are you using? RC or RTM? Since you're already using BitLocker, I'm going to assume it's safe to say you have either Enterprise or Ultimate. In the RTM version of Windows 7 (I don't specifically recall seeing this in the RC), you can right-click on any drive, internal or external, and an option appears that says "Manage BitLocker." Note that if you're a member of a domain that supports the appropriate group policies, it is possible your system administrator has set one or more policies that prevent you from using BitLocker. The policies for BitLocker cover the OS volume, fixed data volumes (internal disks) and removable (or roaming) data volumes (USB and FireWire disks). Each of these has its own set of policies for what recovery mechanisms are available, key escrow to AD, passphrase restrictions, etc. Depending on what is set, options may or may not appear in Windows Explorer, and some options may be hidden or dimmed when you bring up various BitLocker wizards. To re-lock an unlocked disk, you can do this from the command prompt through manage-bde. To use this tool, do the following:1. Open an elevated command prompt.2. Type manage-bde -lock X: (where X is the drive letter of the volume to lock).3. Press enter. If you get a 0x80070005 error (access denied), it means the volume is in use (file handles are open). If you want to force it locked, you can run:manage-bde -lock X: -forcedismountForcing a volume to dismount could cause you to lose some data, so discretion is advised when forcing the dismount.I've been writing a GUI interface for BitLocker that I plan to make available later this month, and it'll work on Windows Vista, Server 2008, 7 and Server 2008 R2, and support nearly every function available from the command line, and will allow you to encrypt internal and external drives, including flash drives, all the way back to Windows Vista.Best regards,Matt
