Windows 7 constantly restarting after Embassy Security configuration attempt
I ahve a Dell Latitude E6500 with Windows 7 RTM installed. I went to setup the TPM using Embassy Security Center and when the computer went through a reboot, after 1-2 minutes I got the message "Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automatically in one minute". Looking at the Event Logs, I see this: A critical system process, C:\Windows\system32\lsass.exe, failed with status code 255. The machine must now be restarted.Preceded 8 seconds earlier with this message: Faulting application name: lsass.exe, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bbf3eFaulting module name: wvauth.DLL, version: 3.3.5.6, time stamp: 0x499ae9c6Exception code: 0xc000000dLooking at other problems, I thought it might be a corrupt DLL, so I replaced the wvauth.dll with a known good version and get the same result. I can boot into safe mode and Windows runs fine. If I boot normally, I get 1-2 minutes of normal startup followed by the warning that Windows is going to restart in one minute.Following suggestions in a previous post, I disabled all non-Microsoft Services and all Startup items using msconfig.exe and the system runs normally. I then enabled all of the services and it still runs normally. In the list of startup items, I sorted by manufacturer and enabled about 1/2 of them (A-M) and the system had the restarting problem. I disabled the A-M group and enabled the N-Z group and the Embassy Security Wizard began running for about 5 minutes, but partway through configuration, I got the shutdown notification again. I'll try narrowing things down more tomorrow.Any suggestions?
