Windows 7 corrupted my Data drive
I have a logical partition on the same disk as I installed Windows7.Now I cant access the partition.When I boot XP and run chkdsk /r it runs and detects the volume names, but when its done I still cant see my data.HELP PLEASE!

You mean you cannot access it from XP or from Win7???Did you go into admin tools/device management/disk manage,ment and assign it a drive letter?Win7 hides your other boot partition from itself to prevent damage unless you activate the drive letter of the other boot partition.

When I had Win7 up and running, it could see the drive but when I clicked on it it said "Access denied"I have tried to run "chkdsk /r" from XP and it runs, but when its done I can see the drive, but I cant access it.I think the data is still there, because when I run chkdsk it can see the Volume name "Lager" , but from XP its listed just as "Local disk"Everytime I reboot my PC it checks the disk...

OK, tools like Active@ File recover can see the files.Does anybody know of a free tool?

can you right click on the drive and get to a security tab? If yes, go the the owner tab and check the take ownership checkbox.jf

I had to go out and get a tool Active@ File recovery seems to be able to do it.
