Windows 7 drops packets over the LAN wirelessly.
Whenever accessing an IP address on the LAN over wireless, Windows 7 keeps dropping packets. This works fine with a cable and I've tried with 2 separate brands of Wireless card. It also worked fine when trying with a linux livecd. Normal internet works fine. The problem persists in Safe Mode with networking. When accessing a small file (presumably within one packet size) everything works correctly. I've tried both linux and windows with the machine and the other end and two different network cards. I believe it to be one of the new networking features in Windows 7 causing this problem.I include a packet dump:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2701213/dump.pcapAs you can see accessing the file 192.168.1.65/koth.ts on the other machine causes issues. Doing something similar over SMB causes explorer to lock up.Thanks in Advance.

You may need to find Windows 7 compatible driver for the wireless adapter and install the driver. If the issue still occurs, try to change the channel for the adapter. If the above suggestions do not help, you can try to disable auto-tuning function. 1. Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Accessories. 2. Right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator. Collapse this imageExpand this imageIf you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 3. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled 4. This command disables the Receive Window Auto-Tuning feature. 5. Close the Command Prompt window.6. Restart the computer.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Hello Arthur, I've tried all of your suggestions but unfortunately I still have the same issue. Is there anything else I can try? Thanks again.

The adapter driver may be not compatible with Windows 7. You may need to upgrade the wireless network adapter driver. If the issue still occurs, please temporary disable antivirus and firewall then check the result again. If the issue does not occur in this case, please check the configurations for the security programs. Arthur Xie - MSFT
