Windows 7 hangs on switching internet connection
Hi I have win 7 evaluation build 7100 32 bit installed on my Fujitsu laptop. I use internet at work using LAN (no proxy). else where i use my GPRS or tata indicom data card. I generally use standby mode or hibernate mode when moving out.The problem occurs when i have been using internet from one way ( let us say using LAN) and then i move out after hibernating the machine or putting the machine on standby. Now if i connect net using my data card or GPRS, the machine hangs immediately on getting connected with Internet. The same is true if i was using GPRS/Datacard and use LAN to connect to internet. Restarting the machine is the only solution. Once restarted i am able to browse without any problem. This happens all the time. I have an updated MCAfee antivirus and no virus issues. The machine is updated with latest patches. If anyone has come across this problem orhas a solution/workaround, let me know of.RegardsAjai

Hi Ajai, Thank you for posting. Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Please ensure that the drives for the network devices (such as LAN, GPRS) are up-to-date and installed properly. You may also let us know the brand and model of the devices and we will perform some further researches. 2. If you have other network management software installed, please remove it and just use the Windows built-in feature. 3. Please perform a Clean Boot to check the issue. Clean boot ================= 1) Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Search box, and then press Enter. Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window. 2) Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3) Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK. NOTE: we can go back to normal boot by running msconfig again and checking on Normal Startup in the General tab. In the Clean Boot Environment, the third party services and applications are disabled, please check if the issue reoccurs at this time. If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to one application or service we have disabled. You may use the MSCONFIG tool again to re-enable the disabled item one by one to find out the culprit. Hope this helps. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT
