Windows 7 hesitates when I close out a window.
WhenI close the window there is a momentary jitter before it fades away. This problem only happens when I close a window. it works fine opening one. I updated my video drivers & ran two differentregistry cleaners. Glary & CC cleaner.

Hi cardsfan2, When did the issue first occur? Did it occur after installing certain software or update? Please first see if the issue occurs in Safe Mode (Restart computer, press the F8 key when the boot menu pops up, select [Safe Mode], and boot up). What is the result? If the issue does not occur in Safe Mode, lets disable all startup items and third party services when booting. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. Please perform the following steps: 1. Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter. Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window. 2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK. Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment, if the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue. What is the result? Also, does the issue occur in all Windows Explorer windows or just certain application window? Regards, Linda

Same issue here. I had this stuttering on a nearly blank Win7 system without CC cleaner or something like that. Drivers were up to date. Issue is well known, look at some sites on the web, for expample: http://www.windows7taskforce.com/view/3016 I will test the steps from Linda Yan.

It started right after I loaded windows 7 (clean install) before any programs had been loaded. It happens in all windows. I have not had a chance to trya restart in safe mode.

Hi cardsfan2, Since this issue does not occur in my Windows 7x32 RTMversion, could you please help to clarify the following factors? - Which version of Windows 7 are you using? Is it an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) version or a retailed version?- Is this the same symptom as the one in this video? If it is convenient for you, please record a video about the issue and then upload it to SkyDrive at www.skydrive.live.com. Also, please let me know the result after trying the suggestions in the previous post. If the issue persists after trying the previous suggsetions, pleasecollect the System Information by the steps below: 1. Press Start, type in msinfo32 in the Start Search bar and then press Enter. 2. Choose Save from the File menu and save it as an NFO file. 3. Find the file, right-click on this file, click "Send To", and click "Compressed (zipped) Folder". 4. Upload the compressed file to SkyDrive at www.skydrive.live.com Regards, Linda

I have a 64 bit retail version of Windows 7 Home Premium. I have seen 64 bit systems that do not have the problem, making me think that its a driver issue. There are post in other forums going back to Jan 09 so the beta version also had the problem It did not happen in safe mode, but in safe mode the animation in windows 7 is turned off so it can't happen. My problem is similar to the video.

As you may notice, not all users are having this issue. Based on the symptom, this issue shall be related to the display card and its driver. Please double confirm if the display card driver is the latest one which is fully compatible with Windows 7. Also, please test if the issue occurs in Clean Boot mode as previously mentioned. If the issue persists, could you please provide the System Information as mentioned in the previous post so that we can have a clearer image of your hardware configuration? Thank you very much for your time.

Hello, Linda Yan. I have the stutter that is shown in the video. Disabling all Non-MS-services didn't help. BIOS was up to date. Nvidia-Drivers were up to date, I tried the newest beta driver and the newest final driver. I'm using Windows 7 Professional Retail 32 Bit. Windows 7 stutters only when Aero Glass is activated. When Aero Basic or the Classic Theme is enabled, there is no stuttering at all. Furthermore, Aero Glass is only stuttering when I close and open windows. Maximizing, minimizing and everything else is absolutely smooth. Can you confirm, that this stuttering seen in the video was not built by Microsoft as a "feature"? My big concern is that the stutter was built by design. On the web, there is a number of people with this problem. Some people say they cannot see any stuttering, but I assume, that these people just don't look close enough or they don't know, that the stutter is only visible, when you open and close windows.

Computer Issues If it is possible to you, could you please enable slow motion? This is the trick: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-slow-motion-aero-animations-in-windows-vista/ In case you try it, please tell us, if you cannot see any stuttering even in slow motion. My stuttering is there when I close and open windows. Thank you.

Drew and Linda: This is a video card independent issue. All one need do is Google "Windows 7 Aero Stutter" and you'll see it's an issue reported by many people - using ATI, Nvidia and Intel chipsets - on a multitude of devices. That said, what happens is that - even with a fast video card and PC - there is a momentary pause as applications are opened where they "snap" to size on the page. On closing, there is a distinct jerkiness as the page disappears off the screen. Interestingly, this does not happen when minimizing or maximizing already open applications. Others have said they suspect it has to do with window timings in Windows 7. You probably are experiencing it yourselves, but you're just not sensitive to it (nor am I). Apparently, a number of people are irritated by this problem and the behavior is different from Vista. BTW: Oddly, the only application I've found that doesn't exhibit the above behavior is Google Chrome. It opens and closes cleanly, a la Vista. But, everything else - including IE 8 - opens and closes with the "jerkiness" described above.

Hey, I have no problems, troubles or complaints. Both my Windows 7s have worked perfectly nicely for almost a year. A couple of criticisms & even fewer Bugs I sent to or discussed w/ the Windows 7 Build Team but, really very impressed & content. So I write in 4 Tech Forums trying to help ppl w/ issues, I don't have myself... challenging to respond w/ value cus some queries hard to duplicate the (or their) scenario.Drew - MS Partner / MS Beta Tester / Pres. Hi cardsfan2, I did noticed that some other users are having the same issue. According to their feedback, the issue persists after a clean installation. I will report this issue to the related group with the hardware and operating system information for further investigation. Thank you again for your time! Sincerely, Linda

I am also noticing the snap/jerkiness in Windows 7 Ultimate x64. This happens when opening a new window (or program) and when closing (clicking the X). In Vista, the fade effect was very smooth. I don't know what the cause of this could be. All my drivers are updated and I have a decent computer (Core2Duo E8400, GTX260 OCX, 4GB). I hope this gets a fix soon. Its getting annoying. I don't want to turn off the animation feature because, well I like it.

Hello, i've just upgraded from vista 64 to 7 64, i have exactly the same thing. Anyways, i went to Best buy, quickly tested out the major brands from low end to high end, they all do exactly the same thing. That posted video is a slow motion of what is happening. I think most ppl will not even notice it, but i do....just like many others. Anyways, from another thread, using the windows magnifier just once will fix the problem til the next reboot, try it....it works. Lets hope the smoothness of opening and closing windows gets repaired in the future.
