Windows 7 network issues
I had a home network set up. My desktop was sharing files I wanted to and any computer that connected to my wireless network could use the files from my desktop. Well my router went bad and my ISP mandates the a tech has to come out to change it out. So the tech came out and changed the router out and now I am having problems. I have a new laptop which is running windows 7. My desktop is running windows 7. my other two laptops are vista and xp. Before switch out of the router all my laptops had local and internet connection. After the switch my laptop with windows 7 will only get internet and not local. My desk top can see my win 7 laptop and so can the vista laptop. The win 7 laptop cannot see anything but it's self. I need help! Also under my wireless network connection status it says the following: IPv4 connectivity-internet; IPv6 connectivity-no network access. Under the properties portion of the window it gives an address for the IPv4 but under the IPv6 it is blank, I am pretty sure that is the problem but I do not know how to fix it.

Hi, This issue can occur by incorrect system or network settings. You can perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue. 1. Temporarily disable firewall on each machine. 2. Assure the following services are started: Computer Browser, Server, Workstation 3. Modify relevant settings on Windows 7 machine. a. Click Start and open Control Panel. b. Open "Network and Sharing Center" and click "Advanced sharing settings". c. Expand the current network profile (such as "Home or Work"), and then select the following options: "Turn on Network Discovery", "Turn on file and printer sharing", "Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read and write files in the Public folders", "Turn off password protected sharing" 4. Upgrade the Wireless network adapter driver on Windows 7 laptop. 5. Configure the connection to obtain an IP address automatically a. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) to Start Search bar and press "Enter". b. Right-click the network connection and click "Properties". If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. c. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" and click "Properties". d. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". e. Click "OK". f. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click "Properties". g. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". h. Click "OK". i. Reboot the computer. What's the result now? Thanks, Novak
