Windows 7 not connecting to internet
I keep having this problem with new Windows 7 machines not connecting to the internet. They connect fine to the local are network but not internet. I chose workplace network. When I do diagnostics it keeps coming up with this message: "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS Server) is not responding" When I do a ipconfig /all it shows both DNS's. I have other windows xp and windows 7 machines that are on the same network and they never have a problem. What could be the problem?

Is this a wireless or wire network? Though you mention it shows both DNS when you did a ipconfig /all, what about the IP?

Thank you for your replies. This is a wired connection. Adapter driver status is working properly and with enough coxing i could get connected long enough to update the adapter driver. Network icon status has a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it. When i hover the mouse over it, it say not internet connection. I get ip's fine when I do an ipconfig /release and /renew Giving the network adapter IPV4 a static ip and manually put the DNS's in doen't solve the problem. It works for about 20 to 30 seconds then cuts the internet off again. I can ping the gateway, in obtain ip automatically mode. Sorry, I was wrong I can't ping the gateway. I can ping other devices within the network but not the gateway. It doesen't matter if it's static ip or DHCP.

Hi, Please make sure the latest network adapter driver is installed. If the issue persists, check if the following suggestions can resolve this issue: 1. Click the Start Button, type "cmd" (without quotation marks), in the search result list, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator". Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. 2. In the popup window, type the following command and press Enter: ipconfig /all 3. Write down your Ethernet adapter Physical Address.4. Click the Start Button, type "cmd" (without quotation marks), in the search result list, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator". Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. 5. In the popup window, typencpa.cpl and press Enter.6. Right click on the connection and then click "Properties" -> click on "Configure.." button > click on "Advanced" tab > Find the "Network Address"7. Under Network address you will find the "Not Present" checked. Uncheck that by clicking the check button in front of a blank box.8. In that box put the value as physical address of your network card without dash.9. Click OK. Hope this helps.
