Windows 7 not showing LAN connection for management
Please relook at this issue!! http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itpronetworking/thread/7642f128-7b75-4851-847e-75cc4689d1fd?prof=required Also the same thing here: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7network/thread/2541cc9f-54d5-4bbc-a228-57d0ce445dc4 Under the following screens is where I found along with my LAN adapter "Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center" Then choosing "change network adapters". At this location I decided to delete old PPP adapter connections. When I did the LAN adapter also has been deleted even tho I didn't choose to delete it. I saw it flash up when I deleted the PPP adapter, came back for a second then went. My LAN connection is working 100%!!! Please remember this, the drivers, NIC & everything else is working fine!!! Both before & after this issue. I have the same red cross on the networking icon in the icon tray, when I go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections there is no adapters listed, however, in device manager the card is there, I do have an IP via DHCP & I am posting on the very computer with the problem. So the question is - how do we get Windows 7 x64 to re-show up our LAN adapters for management (IE - I now want to assign a static IP as I setup a VPN server on my network) Thanks in advance

Hi All, Just wanted to report the following steps is a way to reset the network config - this re-showed my LAN adapter!!! Click Start , click Run , type regedit , and then press ENTER. Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL-MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network Right-click this subkey, click Export , and then save the selected branch in a file. Click the Network subkey again, and then delete the Config entry. Do not delete the Network subkey. The Config entry will be reconstructed when you restart the computer. Restart the computer. You may have to manually turn off the computer. The config key is re-created on the next boot up! :) Enjoy
