Windows 7 pro Control Panel and others only show soon after boot then display blank
Windows 7 Pro OS Clean Install, After the PC has been on for a few minutes the Computer, Music, Pictures, Documents and Control Panel windows will no longer display (windows come up blank with a few names on left that do not respond). The only remedy is to restart PC. Tried msconfig in Diagnostic Startup to no avail. Updated to latest Intel BIOS and other system Drivers and software. Also Windows 7 is current with updates. I suspect that there are hardware compatibility issues. Does the mouse trail move? Does the lights on keyboard light when you press Lock keys such as “Num Lock” or “Caps Lock”? If all of them do not response. The whole computer should freeze. System goes to a freeze because there is some exceptions happened in the kernel (either the device driver errors or the service errors), and Windows implements this mechanism: When it detects some errors occur in the kernel, it will kill the box in case some more severe damage happens. Then we get a blue screen or the system reboots (it depends on what the system settings are). To troubleshoot this kind of kernel crash issue, we need to debug the crashed system dump. Unfortunately, debugging is beyond what we can do in the forum. A suggestion would be to contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your request. Please be advised that contacting phone support will be a charged call. To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below: Microsoft - Help and Support If you are outside the US please see Microsoft Worldwide Home for regional support phone numbers.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Hi Arthur,Thank you for the information. In answer to your questions the mouse, keyboard lights num lock, scroll lock and caps lock respond fine. I have not received a Blue Screen or automatic system rebootd on the system. One other thing happens that I falied to mention originally is that when I shut down or reboot the system it hangs and I have to force the shut down or reboot. Thank you again for your assistance.

I suggest you boot in Safe Mode and remove the antivirus program. Then restart and check if the issue still occurs. If the issue persists, please let us know if you have followed the steps below. 1. Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter. Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window. 2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK. Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment, if the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue.Arthur Xie - MSFT
