Windows 7 refuses to see wireless PCI Card
Hello, I've looked everywhere and saw people had similar issues, yet nothing I've found has resolved my problem. I've been using a wireless linksys PCI card on my PC for a few months now with no issues. A few days ago I decided to install the 64bit version of Win 7. Upon installation, Win 7 found my PCI card and connected me to my network upon the first time windows booted up. I had no issues for the next two days. At one point I was downloading some new drivers and my internet connection died on me. Turns out Windows was no longer seeing my wireless card. When I would shut the unit off and power it back up, I could see that the card itself was still getting power and turning on. Once Windows would boot it would cut the power to the card and no longer read it. I did the usual things. I updated the drivers. Uninstalled drivers, and reinstalled drivers. I even tried installing another PCI card that I had laying around, it refused to see that too. I tried to use a USB one I have which it also ignored. I thought maybe it was my network but my laptop (also using Win 7 and what Im using now) works fine. I reset and rebooted my router, ect. I did a system restore to the previous day when it was working, it still refused to see it. I then decided to try and reinstall windows again this morning hoping that the wireless connection prompt would show up like it did the previous time. It skipped that step and refuses to see the card. I went a step further and formatted my HD and once again reinstalled Windows. Ignored the step again and still refuses to see the card. I know the card works, but for whatever reason Windows turns it off once it boots. Any ideas? Thanks!

Did you verify it under device manager? Is there any exclamation mark pertaining to the wireless pci card? Have you try updating the driver software by choosing the wireless pci adapter>sub menu choose update driver software>browse my computer for driver software>let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer>select wireless network adapter. Or alternatively search automatically for updated driver software. You might also wanna try installing a 32bit OS and see how it goes

Hi, Please answer Daniel’s suggestion and verify whether the Wireless adapter can be detected in Device Manager. If not, I suggest you replace another PCI slot to check the result or plug the card on another Desktop. Otherwise, it can occur by incompatible driver. At this stage, I suggest you upgrade the Motherboard driver and Wireless adapter driver.
